Here at Simpleweb, we raise money by working on what we’re good at – building startups and… well… eating cake. Lucky for us, our happiness officer Georgie bakes us a selection of delightful treats each week and for every slice of cake consumed, we donate a quid to a charity chosen collectively by the team every other month.

Throughout August and September, our cake-scoffing habits has resulted in a tidy £137.22 fundraised for Young Bristol – a youth-driven charity that works to offer a choice of opportunities and experiences for all young people.

This month, until the end of November, we’ll be raising funds for Chandos House – a local treatment centre for drug and alcohol addiction in men. As the only residential treatment centre for men left in Bristol, it relies on donations to help fund treatment for those who can’t access it through the local authority or finance it themselves.

Meanwhile, our charity of the month for June and July – Bristol Big Issue legend Garry, who’s raising funds for the Big Issue Foundation by taking on an epic solo walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats – has already reached the lochs of the Scottish countryside.

In a recent text update he told us: “I think it’s fair to say I’ve had it all thrown at me. Heatwave, heavy rain, high winds, blisters and a missing toenail! I’ve travelled through wonderful places though and met wonderful people, all on one adventure.”
