It’s exciting times ahead as we welcome two new members into the Simpleweb family. Alice and Gareth are going to be working on some exciting new content as part of a brand new Growth Team.

Alice went along to her first tech Meetup back in 2013 and has been part of Bristol’s vibrant tech-scene ever since. Formerly Editor at TechSPARK, a tech hub for the West of England, she’d heard a lot of great things about Simpleweb, “They’ve got a really good reputation for doing things really well, but not taking themselves too seriously, and I love the fact that they value being part of the community”.

Alice loves a good tech conference and in her first week has already challenged fellow team member Jack to a Conf-Off, she’s also a sucker for anything that uses tech to do good in the world.

In her spare time she can usually be found exploring the great outdoors in her new bivvy bag or taking part in some sort of ridiculous sporting challenge, like a hundred-mile bike ride, or racing a train!

For Gareth, it all started in radio with 10 years working as a producer for Absolute Radio in London. During his time there, he worked on all sorts of content, from live radio and podcasts to blogs and video. “Radio, when it’s done right, can really connect with people on an emotional level – and that’s what I love about it”, he explains.

Working in radio gave Gareth the skills to really understand different audiences and create content that really speaks to them, so a career (and city) shift to become a Marketing Manager for Bristol based transport-tech start-up Slide felt in many ways like smooth sailing.

He was attracted to Simpleweb by the passion and ambition of the team. “I like that they want to do things differently and with real purpose, I’m excited about the variety of exciting companies and projects I’ll get to work with, and shout about”, he says.

Outside of work, music is a big part of Gareth’s life, he even spent 7 years playing bass in an electro-indie band and got to play at Shepherds Bush Empire and Isle of Wight Festival!

He also likes to get in touch with his nomadic side, and has spent 6 months backpacking through Central and South America!
