Following the completion of a whopping $6M Series A funding raise – OLIO’s food waste revolution is officially here to stay and we’re so proud to have been there for this incredible journey.

Due to the unrelenting entrepreneurial prowess of founders Tessa Clarke and Saasha Celestial-One – the user base of OLIO, the world’s only neighbour-to-neighbour food sharing app, has grown from 1,000 in its first month to over half a million users across the globe today.

The funding round, which was led by Octopus Ventures, will be used to double the size of the team – with a particular focus on product – and allow them to expand their “Food Waste Heroes Programme” which enables retailers, events and corporate canteens to become zero food waste.

Tessa tells us: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to unlock our vision of a world with hundreds of millions of hyper-local food sharing networks, so that our most precious resources can be shared, not thrown away.

“We are also extremely proud to have closed this round not only as one of a handful of female founded businesses, but also as part of the small but growing group of ‘tech for good’ companies.”

Saasha adds: “We’ve achieved an incredible amount with a very lean team, and can’t wait for this next stage when we can really start to unlock the true potential of OLIO.”

As one of OLIO’s very first investors back in 2015, it’s been wonderful to be a part of this startup’s growth up to this point and we’re so excited to see what amazing impact they will have next.
