We’re excited to announce that the latest startup to join our talented community of entrepreneurs is Space for Arts, co-founded by Betsy Davison and Van Gothner.

Space for Arts is a US-based platform that’s solving one of the biggest problems for photo and video production professionals – finding and booking photo studios for high-end photo shoots.

For photo and video production professionals and their teams, shoots aren’t always a certainty. They often receive commissions on short notice and shoots can be cancelled at the last minute. Production teams will contact multiple studios, usually by phone, and place ‘holds’ on the studios they want to book rather than booking it outright.

The result is a somewhat chaotic juggling act, a lot of phone calls and a whole host of spreadsheets supplemented with post-it notes.  Many studios end up with multiple holds for the same dates and times and production teams might not know if they have a studio, or even which one they want until the very last minute.

Solving this presents a new but exciting challenge for Simpleweb, as we’ll be building a brand new site along with custom technology in the backend that will imitate this complex booking flow to create a new and disruptive marketplace that takes the pain out of an outdated process.

Van (pictured right) comments: “Once we met with the Simpleweb team, it was clear that their creativity and process discipline combined with their detailed dive into our business thinking and the resulting understanding of our priorities and opportunity, made them an ideal partner.”

We’ve already started working with Betsy and Van on working prototypes and branding and are looking forward to being able to share more in the coming months.
