As 2018 comes to a close, we’re pleased to introduce two of our newest team members to Simpleweb Studio One.
Being a developer hasn’t always been on the cards for Kate though. She originally studied Psychology at university and worked for some time at Bristol’s Colston Hall (along with a brief stint in recruitment) before deciding to make the career shift into tech.
Having now been at Simpleweb for four months, she says: “Working at Simpleweb has really lived up to its reputation. There’s always lots of interesting projects going on, as well as a fair amount of other fun stuff like September’s fantastic hack night/disco and a trip to Berlin to make street games.”
If you catch Kate outside the office, she’s usually at gigs or pub quizzes, and aims to appear on ITV’s The Chase by the end of the decade. She is also on about the eighth draft of her fantasy adventure novel for ages 8+.
Adele is Studio One’s brand new project manager. She started just last week having recently returned to Bristol after four years working in Sydney and London.
“I was looking for an ambitious company with the opportunity to work closely with passionate, talented peers, and innovative clients striving to tackle social and environmental challenges.” she says. “So joining the team at Simpleweb was an obvious choice.”
Starting as a Graphic Designer, problem solving and idea generation has always been what makes Adele tick. She adds: “Graphic design is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. Digital delivery is exactly the same thing, and as the PM you have added bonus of facilitating collaboration between internal and external teams throughout the project.”
So, after her first digital project manager role working on the launch of the Bristol Pound she was hooked and has been working agency side ever since.
When she’s not working on exciting projects, Adele loves a challenge. Having completed a half marathon and tough mudder, she’ll be stepping it up to a Duathlon next year (when it gets a bit warmer!).
