As we skip into spring, we approach our bi-monthly tradition of choosing a local charity to raise as much as we can for, via donations made to our home-made cake fund.

We scoffed everything from jam tarts to brownies, gingerbread and flapjacks in the last two months, raising £152 for Holly Hedge – a Bristol-based independent charity that rescues and re-homes unwanted, abandoned and often mistreated cats and dogs.

For April and May, we have chosen The Rainbow Centre as our charity of the month. This Bristol-based charity provides a haven of peace for children and their families suffering from the effects of a life threatening illness or death in the family.

The centre offers free counselling, family fun days and workshops to help bereaved young children and their parents overcome the overwhelming emotions that often accompany the loss of a loved one. Running entirely from donations, the charity relies on the generosity of the public and local businesses to keep up their amazing work.

You can find out more about them on the Rainbow Centre website.
