We’ve recently teamed up with The Crowd, a platform for helping businesses share ideas and innovations, driving both profit and social change.

We’ll be working with The Crowd on their latest venture – The Curve – a peer-to-peer platform for corporations and public sector organisations to share data on carbon and energy investments. The Curve will help organisations looking at improving their energy investments to see what their peers are doing, learn from others’ experiences and help form business cases.

Through working with a lot of companies on their carbon and energy strategies, The Crowd team noticed that most companies were exploring the same solutions. While a large number of companies were driving for change, most didn’t haven’t the relevant expertise and all were struggling to make good decisions in a market where technology innovation is moving quickly.

“We asked ourselves: what would it be like if they could all efficiently learn from each other?” said Jim Woods, CEO of The Crowd. “Rather than reinvent the wheel, would they be willing to share their experience if it helped them to find what works quickly?”

The Crowd team says they’ve been inspired by cumulative progress in science, where each scientist builds on the work done before them, and thus the rate of innovation increases exponentially. If companies can learn from and expand upon the carbon and energy initiatives of others, the rate of progress accelerates and initiatives like The Curve have potential to play a substantial role in tackling climate change.

“We want The Curve to contribute to building a better world, and to generate high margin revenues for our shareholders” says Jim. “To us, that is the perfect business. We hope The Curve will connect up corporate energy managers globally, and the architecture we are developing with Simpleweb can be used for other key resources such as water and waste.”
